How to take care of your quilt PDF Print E-mail

Tuan

Your quilt is made of high quality materials including 100% cotton pieced top and plain back. The fabrics should be colorfast. All fabrics have been "pre-shrunk" so that they can be laundered efficiently as you see fit. Here are some general guidelines.

If you like the crisp/"unwashed" look then you should wipe your quilt down with a damp cloth and not put it in the washer or dryer.

If you like the "washed" look (this makes the hand quilting a little more evident but to some it appears "untidy" as you may not iron it...then you can wash your quilt (if it is small) in a washing machine, or have it dry cleaned if it is large.

If you put your quilt in the dryer the "quilted look" will increase more. The batting is polyester and is heat sensitive : either such that you should only steam- iron your quilt but not so heat sensitive so as to be harmed in a clothes dryer set on moderate heat Line drying will keep the "puckering to a minimum". Line drying in the direct sun is acceptable but your quilt should not be displayed (or even on a bed where there is a window that is always open) in direct sunlight as colors fade.

All knots have been carefully hidden but should one works it self loose it can be retied and pulled between the top (or back) and the batting.

It is our hope that your quilt will bring you many years of enjoyment and that these simple instructions will help you take care of your quilt with ease.
